Mis Raíces Son Mi Fuerza, created in partnership with The Center for Great Neighborhoods, an organization dedicated to community development and bringing the arts into neighborhoods in Covington, centers on the idea that heritage, family, and cultural pride are powerful sources of strength. The bilingual phrase “Mis raíces son mi fuerza” anchors the work, reflecting how shared histories and traditions shape both individual and collective identity. An abstract design inspired by the abbreviation “COV” and the visual language of hand-painted signage from Latin America is layered with symbols such as the river, corn, nopal, and thistle, representing place, resilience, and agricultural roots. Flowers drawn from sketches by Karla’s Mexican grandmother add an intimate, intergenerational touch, while a vibrant palette celebrates the vitality of Latinx culture and honors Covington’s spirit of unity and community resilience.
